How Do You Handle Receiving? A Wellness Reflection for Women Who Give So Much

If you’re anything like so many women I know (and love), you’re a giver. You give your time. Your energy. Your prayers. Your support. You pour out encouragement, resources, wisdom — sometimes even when your own cup feels empty.

And what a blessing that is. The ability to give is powerful. It reflects strength, compassion, and purpose. At God’s Essence Aromatherapy (GEA), we deeply honor that part of you — the nurturer, the supporter, the light-bearer in your family, community, and circle of friends.

But today, I want to invite you into a new question:

How do you handle receiving?

For many of us, receiving can feel uncomfortable. Awkward even. We brush off compliments, downplay offers of help, or insist “I’m fine” when someone reaches out. We tell ourselves we don’t want to burden others. Or that we don’t really need what’s being offered.

But here’s the truth: receiving is part of a healthy, balanced flow.

When we allow ourselves to receive — love, support, care, even small gestures like a kind word or a thoughtful gift — we create space for restoration. We refill what’s been poured out. And in doing so, we honor ourselves and the giver. Because receiving keeps generosity and connection alive.

Imagine this: a friend surprises you with a GEA body butter, saying, “You deserve this. I wanted you to have something soothing, something just for you.”Will you pause, take it in, and receive it fully? Or will you say, “Oh, you didn’t have to do that!” and push the blessing aside?

What would shift in your heart if you embraced the gift with a simple, “Thank you. This means so much.”

At GEA, we believe that true wellness means not only tending to the world around you but also nurturing the world within you. Our products — from body butters to subscription boxes — are designed as gentle invitations to receive. To slow down. To breathe in calm. To let your own needs be met with love and intention.

So, the next time life offers you a helping hand, a thoughtful word, or a moment of rest — lean in. Let yourself receive. It’s not weakness. It’s not selfishness. It’s wisdom.

Because in receiving well, you restore your ability to give from a place of abundance, not depletion. And that, my friend, is where wellness truly blooms.
